Is no one allowed to defend themselves these days?

It's time the scum got what they deserved, the thug got off to lightly.
He will still be out there!!!

Oops, was that reverse I accidentally selected

The world is not going mad, it is mad!

He's not innocent, he pleaded guilty to unintentionally injuring the other guy.
He should have been admonished.

In my opinion, It's the Judge who is guilty of gross misjudgement
( In Scotland if I said the Judge was definitely guilty of gross misjudgement, that's a crime known as murmuring, and carries a heavy jail sentence)

The law is a clown in a wig, above criticism but not cynicism.

I've signed it!!

In my book the creep got what he deserved and as for the Judge

Semantics aside Bill, he was told that if he didnt plead guilty to the charge that was accepted then he faced an even longer sentence..
I see your point though & appreciate your signing & everyone else that is making this campaign more public

What pisses me off these days is that if you do anything to defend your property or your family, you are the one made to feel and is treated as a criminal.

If the trouble maker gets hurt that is his/her problem!
Not the victims fault that the thug was full of drink and drugs!
Why should the victim be treated as if it is him/her that is in the wrong.
As long as reasonable force is used to protect you property and your family and yourself it should never go to court.
If it does it should be up to a jury to decide if what you did was reasonable.  That in itself is left up to interpretation.

First post on the new FTS and I can't think of a better subject to post on. As a rule, I don't just sign these petitions just because a fellow FTS'er asks me to, so I did a bit of digging. From what I can see, the petition website does paint a fairly rosy picture of Stephen, as you would expect it to, but, without a doubt, even the most jaundiced of people would say he has been grossly mistreated.

It appears from Stephen's comments in the Sunday Mail, that he acted rashly and attempted to drive away without any consideration for the injury he may have caused the pedestrian. Strictly speaking, that is an offense. However, on these bare facts a sentence in excess of 3 years has to be excessive. But when you consider that not only was the pedestrian menacing and actually attacking Stephen, who had children in his care, then ANY custodial sentence is wholly unacceptable.

I have happily signed this petition.

(Mind you, on a slightly flippant note which I hope he doesn't mind, I'll bet proison seems lik a holiday camp to a man with so many kids!! )

Thanks Thespian, you & thousands more here & around the world are signing this petition..
Stephen accepts that he is guilty of a crime but not that of which he was convicted & did not merit the sentence handed down to him..
The thug that fell under the wheels was out on bail, tagged & a known criminal
who was carrying an offensive weapon at the time & threatening Stephen & his family..

Yeah i know Maria, this country is so PC that it is getting to the stage that you are wary of telling a teenager off in-case you get accused of something &/or get sued..
Come back Bernard Goetz , well maybe not as extreme but you get my meaning

It amounts to this, do you protect yourself and your family or do you allow someone to harm them.

There is no doubt that in the eyes of the law he used unequal force, but let's face it, I would have done the same in that position.
Though I don't know the facts of the case, as far as I am concerned my family comes first and I would do time for it.
I have signed the petition (a while ago) and I hope there is some sense seen shortly.
If the moron had been hitting my car while I was in it, I would have drove straight over the top of him to protect my family.

Yes I agree, and I did say I would have done the same

Only thing is I would have accidentally knocked the car into reverse.

& then forward, reverse, forward & then claimed that you had a rare form of motoring OCD where you have to do things 3 or 4 times or your world will crumble
