isnt it really time that the gun lobby was silenced and some sort of sensible gun laws imposed to stop this sort of thing happening? |

It is about time the Americans had a serious look at their gun laws!
How many of these shootings has there to be before they wake up? _________________ Inverurie Webcam

| it really does make me despair, I know our government possibly acted hastily after the two horrible shootings in the UK but I think the lunchtime news said something about the third one this month in the US. |

Don't you think that there are so many illegal guns around that it won't make that much of a difference?
There are a lot of guns around here that shouldn't be.
What is it like across there? _________________ Inverurie Webcam

I'm sure there are a lot of illegal guns here but we still dont seem to get that sort of gun crime very often (fortunately) - I watched the documentary about Dunblane a wee while ago and it was terrible.
Its teenagers in the US being able to buy/obtain machine guns and the like that I find incredible. We seem to hear so much of this type of shooting happening in the US, what on earth makes people behave like that? |

They can but a machine gun over there that takes 2 hrs to load and 30 seconds to fire all the bullets over 200 of them.
It can punch a hole through 1" steel plate
What use could a gun like that ever have except to kill as many people as possible in a short space of time! _________________ Inverurie Webcam

| which is why I cant understand that the US cant ban that sort of weapon - I know some people over there are big into hunting etc and that those guns can just as easily kill people, but not with the speed and 'efficiency' of what must be a gun made for warfare. |

I don't think there is any of the armed forces use it!
How would you carry the ammo for a gun like that
2hrs to load and 30 seconds to empty it
Not practical, so why even make it
The power of some of the guns you can buy over the counter over there is just scary _________________ Inverurie Webcam

I think that if you're allowed to have a gun, then it means there's more of a chance of it being used in the heat of a moment, or even by accident. Can you imagine if it was legal to possess a gun in the UK in the same way as it is in the US? EEK! |

In the newspaper yesterday (our local one, not a tabloid) there was a report of a young boy shooting his sister in the face with a shotgun (I think) because she wouldnt share her packet of crisps with him - need I say it, in the US again |

something similar happened here not long ago - bloke accedently shot his sister. Gun was illegal mind you, but if they were legal, this sort of thing would be far more commonplace. |

Zaf, if you notice most of these school and campus shooting are in states that hunting is very popular and most of those kids know how to shoot. There are alot of regulations and mandates for handguns. License, psych evaluations (for carry on weapons)...Unfornuately these states (hunting) you could buy a rifle in Walmart and I blame the parents for not securing weapons when storing at home. Lock boxes are available in all sizes...locks for the trigger also and the ultimate do not store at home when children are in residence.
Also these kids are psycho paths...your depressed take yourself out of the pic...not the school that you went to and was ignored...It's a statement they are making Zaf and nothing morel...to much romanticism in death and being remembered.... _________________

Again that parents responsibility....Should there be a shotgun at home, if not the parents but the child...how did the parents not know...and last but least why hasn't the parent beat the crap out of young boy... _________________

Eek! your so cute...I know how to shoot, would go with my cousins in the ranch hunting...All guns and rifles where kept at the ranch out in the storage cottage (extra closets for clothes, house appl., etc.) and was kept under double lock (pad lock)...In my home we have two in a safety box in the atic which is only reachable through my closet and it has no stairs...Impossible to reach and secured.
to many out there and you could buy them super cheap...if not alot of knives are used....not to mention shanks....
