I agree Blue Moon, It's a case of horses for courses I think. Each idividual is different and has to be treated as an individual and not lumped under one particular tag.
I think that applies to life in general because we are all unique and different. _________________ Here's to the Little Gentleman in the black velvet coat |

I cant help being a borderline and maniac depressant. I am not going to use this as excuse for being who I am or was when I was in hospital. Yes Im on high dosis of prozac, valium and truxsal but im coping. There are ppl wose of than me. I appreciate a laugh, thats just me, but not make fun of another is not right who are worse than me. There is a special somone on this board that wakes me up to that fact. Thank you, I wont name you as you are brilliant _________________ FAO BoB |

| wouldn't mind being in a Big brother hoose with some of the members of this list. That would be a very interesting experience. I don't particularly like the programme but sometimes like how they all react to each other. For instance how the others are reacting to the posh guy from the home counties who is actually a well balanced kind of a chappie. The fact that he has been up for eviction 5 times speaks volumes about class mentality. The sole Scottish lassie in the house drives me bonkers with her "Can't stand the way he speaks" that is her only reason for nominating him. Ah humans what a complex lot we are. |

How very true R R .
Unfortunately, I think the Big Bro is 'popular' i.e. gets good ratings because ratings demand programmes are targetted at the 'mass prols' in our society.
Depressive, like wot I is !! would make fabulous viewing, if only any of us could open up !!

How very true!
I think living in a house with 15 others like BB would be difficult. It must be difficult for those who were in there and then watch back at how they really were in there. The current wee cl-eek in there have no idea how badly they are perceived by the public.
Now how about a group therapy session lol. |

Mad Welshie,
Of course you can't help your illness. No-one can help being ill. I live with a manic depressive husband and understand the illness well.
The only thing you can do is stick to your medication and simlpy ignore the few idiots who are out there. I hope your good times far outway the rough episodes.
I think much of the problems in Mental health is because it's such a taboo subject for many, and understanding is scarce. That's why I think it can be good to discuss these issues openly. It blows away much of the rubbish and ignorance about these types of illness and helps people understand.
You would be surprised to know just how many of the population suffer from various forms of mental health problems. I myself suffered from a severe clinical depression many many years ago and that was why I went into Psychiatric nursing. I remembered well how I was perceived by some in the community at that point in my life, and it angered me. I did not ask to become ill, it just happened.
