alot of veggies and fruit are good for your health and the fruits have alot antioxidants...We all now that garlic is good for your heart so is a glass of red wine (red grapes)...Onions are good for your blood and there are alot veggies for cholesterol and so on...

So on that last note I just realized...Zaf you are going to out live us!

Perhaps you might try and answer this question then.
Just why is it that garlic is good for the heart then?
You'll be telling me next, that carrots help us see in the dark.
Garlic is much like onion only much. much stronger and does nothing of the sort.
As far as I'm aware it does nothing except disguise the taste of anything it is mixed with.
There is not a shred of medical evidence that says it prolongs health or indeed help an already healthy heart.
It is foul, doesn't do that much good (as you claim) and pervades the nostrils of anyone nearby for hours on end.

well, erm, carrots do help us see in the dark - or shall I say they can help avoid 'night blindness' as they provide a lot of beta-carotene as well as lutein, a yellow plant pigment that lowers the risk of cataracts and protects the eyes against damage from ageing.

(They’re also an excellent source of antioxidants, which help combat the free radical cells that can cause cancer) but............someone managed to kill themselves by overdosing on carrots believe it or not!

Emm! Maybe garlic then is the next endemic to blight the human race.
I cannot remember which politician said that there are lies, damned lies and statistics, but he/she was more or less correct.

Most claims are sometimes met with many other counter claims, and my own claim is that garlic is not only bad for you, but for others near to you.

definitely for others near you sometimes

Garlic contains a compund called allicin, which is broken down into sulphur compounds which can taint breath.

These compounds react with red blood cells and produce hydrogen sulphide which relaxes the blood vessels, and keeps blood flowing easily and within the blood vessels it stimulates the cells that form the lining to relax, causing the vessels to dilate.

This, in turn, reduces blood pressure, allowing the blood to carry more oxygen to essential organs, and reducing pressure on the heart.

Allan, my father used to have the same opinion as you about garlic and he never knew that my mother had been cooking with for years till she didn't have any and when he tucked into his spag bol one day he asked my mother if she had forgotten to add the salt, to which my mother replied no, George, there's nae garlic in it coz the coop had ran oot! You could have knocked him down with a feather.

Garlic adds flavour, is good for you and keeps midgies and mosquitos aff you when your on holiday

My sadly long departed Grandfather used to light his old smelly pipe which did the same.
Maybe midges abhor garlic vapours too!
