Woody, unless the Smoking gestapo have corroborated evidence and/or photgraphs of you smoking in your cab its their word against you and in a court of law in Scotland corroboration and hard evidence is a must, unless they have this they have no case!
Good luck with it pal, i hate smoking with every bone in my body but for it to go this far is plain daft! _________________ Its better to burn out than to fade away............. |

Ah, smoking...my pet hate...
I don't give a monkey's if grown ups want to smoke, as long as they do it away from me and away from any children.
BUT....I work with teenagers, and believe me, when you catch a 12 year old boy smoking to try and look 'cool' like the older kids - it's shocking. All the teens are now banned - even the over 16's. They have been told if they want to smoke, bring a written letter from their parents and I will be phoning to double check.
I also knew a young boy with bad asthma whose parents constantly smoked in the house. He died earlier this year from a massive asthma attack which caused his heart to fail.
So yeah...I hate smoking.... _________________

As a smoker for more than 50 years, I have to admit that I enjoy my wee ciggie, but have always tried to adopt a considerate manner towards non smoker and I would never smoke aroung young children.
Normally if I am entertaining guests whom I am not familiar with, I ask, in case someone has a chest complaint, if they would object. The usual answer is no, however an American friend was visiting and after dinner, (when I really love my ciggie) I asked politely if they minded. My friend said Not at all but her friend said, actually I do mind.
I went outside to the garden have my smoke, still taken aback by that. I do think my manners that evening were somewhat better than hers. _________________ Here's to the Little Gentleman in the black velvet coat |

Sometimes reformed smokers are the worst people to advocating against others smoking as it may well resurrect the smoker in them that they once were and enjoyed doing so.
I wonder, was your friends, friend maybe one of those characters?
I always ask anyone around me if they object to me smoking as you have done, and indeed respect their individual wishes always.
Do you know if this person was a reformed smoker or not?
That would explain all.
