With all the recent downturns in the economy lately and crude oil prices falling, it's strange that the powers that be have not latched on to the fact that when prices were rising worldwide the energy suppliers were very quick to raise the prices of electricity and gas, but now that the prices have all but collapsed they are so loath to drop their costs.
Offwat, Offgem or Offline, whatever they are called have not as yet slated or fined these companies for excessive pricing.

I wrote a letter to E-on, previously Powergen's MD, who answered through his secretery much like this; " Thank you for your letter etc.etc. We are continuing to look at ways etc.etc. We value your comments and will look into them etc.etc."

I had humbly suggested that to show that they were a caring company they should consider knocking £50 off the quarterly bill due in December to all loyal customers.
Might well have asked for a Knighthood.
It is up to all of us to contact these scrooge's and demand some sort of positive action to reduce these exhorbitant prices.

You might have more chance of that than them reducing the prices.

worse thing the Thatcher woman ever did was privatise power and water companies imo    I'm sure that is a major contributor of the escalating prices.

Am I right in thinking that most of the electricity in England is now owned by France?

You are right on all counts there Zaf.

Do you remember when we own gas, electricity, water, phones, the post office, railways.....  now they all have shareholders who want huge profits

Baroness Thatcher can rot in hell......

This is how it affects me.

In June, I bought a 47kg gas bottle for £38.

Last week, I had to pay £58.90 for the same size bottle.

Bit much that, don't you think?

Dont forget to mention the part or total privitisation of the prisons, NHS, Inland Revenue, several government departments (thinking of the Ministry of Building and Works for one) and I guess many others I cant think of....

Hell is too good for that woman imo

Can anyone please give me an email address to which I can write to and ask why the prices regulatory bodies have not realised that although the petrol companies have reduced their prices along with the falling oil prices worldwide, that our electricity and gas providers have seemingly ignored and should do likewise.

Maybe if we all did the same and complain bitterly then perhaps, if enough of us do so, we might have a little more cash in our pockets to buy other products and perhaps in a small way re-generate our failing economy.

E-on are sitting laughing at us, re; my original letter, but overwhelming numbers could and might well shake them up to do something to appease us all.
We all might as well all complain anyway.
It can't do any harm and might, just might, achieve something positive.
