Well I am sorry if I upset the Dusty fans. I didn't mean to diss her, she was brill I just didn't appreciate her music while alive. I do now and have some. As a bairn though I prefered Petula to Dusty and so I didn't like any other female singer you see.
However having grown up and been to a fair few Petula concerts it would seem that Petula's own favourite singer was indeed Dusty so I stand corrected.
Petula recently received an incomplete recording of Dusty from 1974 and got permision to do a "Duet" with her. The result is a song called "Corner of the sky". |

Dusty was indeed a great singer during the 60's and was something of an up and coming cult figure, later on however though rumours started flying around that she was often seen around with other members of her own sex and never around with other men. Very similar to Cliff Richard in reverse.
Okay these days, but not then, so her following dwindled.
'Pet' in my mind was a bit too sugary, although she was accepted as a good singer generally.
Musical talents as with politicians, do not stand the test of time, much like football goalkeeper's who are only remembered for their last 'save'. _________________ Please support Cancer Research. |

Dusty Springfield was a HUGE icon in gay circles. But who cares ... she was a great singer with a belter of a voice. My late father had her entire discography on vinyl! And it's all unmarked. I'm sitting on a fortune here!!!
My mother was the "Pet" fan. Although I did hear her call the old bird (as she is now) "Peculiar" at least once.
Frankly, I always get mixed up between Petula and Julie Andrews!!! _________________ Non Poster By Request |

| No the only comparison between Petula Clark and Julie Andrews was that they both entertained the troops during WW2 as bairns. Petula may have given the impression during the 50's that she was sugery as she had a hill to climb to prove that she was more than just a child star. Loads of her stuff disprove the sugery bit. In America and in France she didn't have the baggage of her childhood past and she did go on to sell over 70 million records. |

i enjoy the fun and laffs on Loose Women, but what I cant bear to watch is Jackie Brambles, the way she waves her arms and hands about, she is soo annoying , its the most awfull example of anyone talking with their hands.
And stuck up lady , as she thinks she is, that Jane Mcdonald, she feigns the role of girl next door, but is so full of herself.! |

According to Wikipedia, Xcotters ... it was Kaye Adams.
I had to look it up since I don't know anything about this daytime show ... though I have heard of it before.
Here's what Wikipedia says ...
The panel comprises four women from various professions in the entertainment and journalism industries, including actresses, singers, authors, presenters and reporters. Although all four women are classed as presenters in the credits, one acts as the main anchor, linking to breaks and competitions and addressing the television audience.
Kaye Adams and Nadia Sawalha were the original anchors, and Adams held on to role for the first ten series until the end of 2006, when she left to go on maternity leave. Adams was expected to return for a new series, but in August 2007 she confirmed in her newspaper column that after 7 years, she decided that she wanted to move on to other projects and would not be returning.
Occasionally regular panelists such as Carol McGiffin and Denise Welch assume the position of anchor and there have been guest hosts, such as Carole Malone and Ruth Langsford. However, since 2007, the job has been mainly shared by Jackie Brambles and Andrea McLean who alternate throughout the week. The panelists also alternate throughout the week, with three of them appearing on each show.
Hope that helps!!! _________________ Non Poster By Request |

Can't agree there for two reasons: I don't watch daytime TV, never have done; and we have a rich tradition of 'camp' gezzers in British music hall and radio - Kenneth Williams - Sandy & Julian et al (though note emphatically NOT Julian Clarey, who's about as funny as discovering you've got amoebic dysentery and then finding out you've got only sandpaper for bog roll).

No, I like Frost - again, That Was The Week That Was, The Frost Report, At Last, The 1948 Show - and for stuffing up Nixon! All that Through The Keyhole arse is just a distraction and a waste of talent.

Wouldn't know who you mean mate - when it comes to watching TV, I have a few of simple rules in life:
1. Don't watch commercial or daytime TV.
2. Don't watch any programmes which involve cooking, house or garden 'make overs', shows about flogging your house, ANY so-called 'reality TV' or their spin-off series progeny.
3. Don't watch any Soaps.
You'll be surprised what a stress-free life I lead
