I want the extra speed they gave to you back!

I was on 2Mb and I ordered the V+ box..like Sky+ you can record two programmes and watch a third, rewind a live prog, pause etc....and they said they would upgrade me to 20Mb   I downloaded a file from Perisphere last night....came in at 14 odd MB!!  So they obviously upgraded the BB before the guy fitted the new box today!

Good service that.

Virgin was OK on dial-up.
I don't know why they didn't pay me to go away
I was always on-line (cut off every two hours max) but it was 10 times better than BT and for less!

Not with Virgin now though!

When I first got Broadband it went like a train then it got slower and slower.
They don't appear to care as long as they get the money!!!!

Aye BoB, it can be like that on ASDL, but on cable, there's no loss of speed!
I have no complaints either with them, or Telewest!

No cable out here in the sticks though.

Nearest used to be Westhill a few miles out the Alford road, but the company went to the wall as predicted.

Don't know if the cables were used by anyone else or not?

Just have to put up with it for a while yet.

They weren't even going to put in Broadband here until there was a gnashing of teeth and a petition.

Even a 1/2 Mb is quicker than dial up!  If you think your connection is slow try using Dial up again

Trouble is that web designers forget that not everyone has fast connections and don't take account of it i.e. when you used to go to a site with a fancy Flash intro, you used to get a SKIP INTRO button.  These are getting few and far between now so people with Dial up on slow connections have to wait for ages before they get past the Home Page, this can be very annoying.  I don't want to look at a Fash intro anyway, I just want to get the info I want and go.

Only way to speed things up is if the website has a text only option, these are few and far between as well.

This year the Father-in-law will be able to get 20Mb at his exchange
His connection is slower than mine, though the computer say it is running at 12MB it is more than optimistic.  I think he is running around 2Mb downwards.

I don't have a quick fix for your speed Des, sorry.

Any ideas accepted!

I tried "OnSpeed" accelerator software, which was highly recommended by the magazine Computer Active to increase my dial-up speed at the time.
Whilst it did improve that, it was a real bind when I migrated to Broadband. It supposedly was compatible, and should have been easily uninstalled if any problems occurred, but it wasn't.

In the end I had to wipe my hard drive and re-install Windows to get back to normality before installing broadband.

I lost almost 10 months of pre-payment for the OnSpeed software.

Broadband really depends on where you are in the country, the amount of users on line at any given time, and the time of the day on which you decide to use it.

Exhorbitant claims by any provider of their Broadband speed service should be only taken with the "proverbial pinch of salt".

Yep!

Its a joke, they should only be allowed to charge for the speed they can give you on a day to day basis

Not too sure if mine is any better or worse than others.
But it's what I have to endure nonetheless, courtesy of BT Internet.
