Mad Welshie

Your favourite Scottish Island

If you was left to be stranded on a Island of Scotland, which would you choose and why?

I would love to be somewhere on The Isle Of Jura, for its wild and stunning beauty.
Bluemoon

My first thought would be Canna or Eilean Shona.  I have happy memories of there but I suppose I should really pick Arran seeing as it is "Scotland in miniature"

This is too hard to do. There are just too many  Every island has something about it

Jura is lovely.   It's own wee climate
HOOTINANNY

John 'o' Groats

Fir the history, the scenery. ind the peace ind quiet.

Barra for the peace
Xcotty

Can I go somewhere warm, with no midges instead please?
Mad Welshie

Aye I got bitten by one on holiday.  Horrible things

I would also say Barra and Vatersay - such a beautiful place but have not been there since I was about 10.  I doubt it has changed so much?

Just the one Miss W?

You were lucky, I get swarms of the little blighters here.
Mad Welshie

Why is it Mr X that midges always bite in places that they shouldn't?
Xcotty

It's because they are so small, but I think they are demons.
Though, I must admit, I'm glad they are that small.
Imagine if they were the size of dolphins, or summat?
rickyross3359

There are bigger ones though - are cleggs the same only bigger or are they a different species

I love Bees but I hate Wasps !!!
Lady of Kincavel

I love the Isle of Skye, and in particular the Stein Inn at Waternish but for isolation and peace I would go to St. Kilda and be at one with nature. (and all the sea birds of course )

I had a friend once who said "I have an Ocean in my yard, why don't you meet me at high tide".  I did and went to the Shetland Isles on holiday. Such memories of youth.
Xcotty

I'm playing a gig on Skye this Friday coming.
I love playing there, they treat you really well, and give you beer.
Perisphere

Has anyone any thoughts on Bute?
catpurr

Its the Isle of Arran for me, I love the place absolute Tranquility

Mull is another favourite of mine especially during the music festival. Has anyone been to that annual event ? Tobermory really rocks then, or at least it did last time I was there.
eloise

Never been to Mull, one day ........
Loopy Lou

North Uist for me - some beautiful beaches there.  Skye comes a close second though - got a painting of the Cuillins in my livingroom
sissy

I would have to choose the Isle of Gigha, very small and quiet with beauty all around.
BoB

Where on Earth is that sissy?

Maybe I should just look it up and not be so lazy

I will definately look into that one Alison.
Also, I reckon both BoB, and Sissy, are close enough to come along too.
We could get very drunk, and laugh like nutters.
Alison

Sounds like a plan
sissy

Jim must come too as he is off his head, and will drive me there also.
Xcotty

Jim can be the designated driver Sissy.

When shall we tell him of our cunning plan?
sissy

Give him at least a days notice   but longer for me.

I would like to visit Raasay again because it's beautiful, but if I had to be stranded somewhere, it would be Skye

Cos there's a good pub there
blind neep

I'd stay on the island in the middle of the Kay Park loch in Kilmarnock.
Then at opening time I could walk doon to the pub for a pint.
