Wild IslandsSTV at 8.pm tonight such a brilliant programme. I just loved the Scottish wild Cats and how they survive. Only 400 pairs and now mostly in the Highlands. I remember in the 1970's seeing them rather nearer to home. The are a magnificent species. Also the capercaillie jings those males look fierce and huge (I thought the were little game birdies). My favourite capercaillie is still Karen Matheson LOL. Anyway great programme well worth watching if you can.

If you ever come across a male Cappercallie, don't go near it during the breeding season. It WILL attack you without hesitation, they get so high protecting their patch.
I saw the second half and it did look promising.
I forgot it was on. Only once seen a Wild Cat.
Seen a few Cappa's though, but not around where I stay now.

I'm in the west highlands Ricky, and grew up in the country, on a croft.
I'm used to seeing proper wildcats here.
Where I live now, is right beside a river, and there is one beauty here.
It comes into my garden, and try's to catch the rabbits, sometimes it gets them.
The only thing is, it leaves bits of rabbit scattered around here.
Normally, wildcats catch their prey, and take it away complete.
But there are so many rabbits here, it seems to take it's pick, and leave bits.
I work on a mountain here, and see Cappa's all the time, and hear them.
They are really noisy during the breeding season.
Seen a few ptarmigan here too, they are quite scarce, but there are a few around.
The only things we don't get here, are squirrels, and badgers.
They are few, and far between here.
In saying that, a month or so ago, I saw my first red squirrel here, gorjas wee thing.

Have you tried making a wee scarecrow, out of cocktail sticks?
They are clever wee craturs though, I've seen footage of them,
being put into a maze, and how quick they work it out.
I can actually visualize you scooting them with water.
