Widow AllowanceIf you live aboard and your spouse has died, but worked 20 years in the UK before moving to a European country, do you think its fair that the widow has an allowed to have an allowance from the UK of 33 pounds per week? I have been recently be informed by the widows pensions in the UK of this entitlement. I plan to use this money for getting my driving license
My hubby has already set me up with a good income here. I wont be rich from, but me and the kids will be ok. I wish to work than live on his benefits. I dont want the widows pension from the UK as I would rather work and not be taking money from the UK. Is this right? What are your feelings on this?
My OH was 33 years older than me. I feel so guilty

They managed to keep quiet the fact that there is no longer a widow's pension. After paying in all those years and they now don't have to give my OH an old age pension I think it's a disgrace so I'll say if you are entitled, take it !!!

If you are entitled, take it.
That is what it is there for, so if you are entitled to have it you are only getting what you are entitled to.
No shame in that

Go for it Welshie. You've got twa smashin' bairns. If you dinna use the money, invest it for their futures. I think you're still in an emotional state, so do the practical things. What do you think your OH would say ? If he thocht you didna take all the benefits he set up for you, he'd gie ye a good skelpin' !!
You gor for it Welshie, and all the best.

It's yours by right ,so take it MWL Why should you feel guilty. The Government don't feel guilty when they are screwing us all for every penny they can wring out of us.

National Insurance and Pensions schemes, whether private or public, are in effect insurance policies. Sadly, you lost your hubby, and his insurance is paying out.
It's yours by right, so take the money and make life a little easier for you and the kids.
