The Gaza problem. No it's not that footballer family problems, but the war on the Gaza/Israel border problem that I raise.
I cannot understand the worldwide media calling for a cease fire after all the rockets being fired into Israel from Hamas militants.
Surely they must have realised that the Israeli people would only take so much, given their recent history of intolerance by terror bombings etc.
Put yourselves in the same scenario; how much would we all put up with that before retaliation?
World leaders have condemed the scale of reaction to this invasion, but for our Government to shout for a cease fire beggars belief.
They ignored our people who wanted nothing to do with invading Iraq for no other reason than us supporting the USA, and now they want Israel to toe the line?
The whole of the middle east has been a potential flashpoint to getting some sort of a start to a possible world peace, not just nowadays, but for perhaps many century's before, indeed way back to the Crusades in the 12th Century.
It is a tragedy that civilians get killed in this struggle, but all wars include many innocent casualties, and they always will do so in the future sadly.

The Middle East has to be the most fought over piece of Real Estate since humans first stood upright!
Sumerians, Akkadians, Edomites, Canaanites, Elamites, Moabites, Arabs, Babylonians, Mittani, Assyrians, Arameans, Hittites, Anatolians, Hurrians, Egyptians, Phoenicians, Hebrews, Medes, Scythians, Greeks, Persians, Parthians, Romans, Christians, Mithraists, Jewry, Crusaders, Janissaries, Hashashani, Palmyrans, Palestinians, Syrians, Iraqi, Iranian, British, German, French, Lebanese, Jordanian, Saudi ... they all fought in this area ...
And finally in 1947: the United Nations ordered a partition of Palestine, which birthed a Jewish state (Israel), an Arab state and an international zone around Jerusalem. Essentially a state within a state that could not co-exist because of the nature of the two extreme religious faiths battling for domination.
The only way this conflict will end is with a small nuke ... and the start of WWIII.

I don't profess to be an expert on Middle East affairs, but common sense tells me that if a country persists on firing rockets at his neighbour with the sole aim at causing death and destruction, then that neighbour has the right to retaliate.
While celebrities like George Galloway, Annie Lennox, and Bianca Jagger, and others appeared on the box to voice their concern at the Gaza bombings, why didn't they also take the opportunity and condem the futile rocket attacks and suicide bombings carried out by Hamas?
I'm sure that most people are well aware that Israel is very heavy handed when it comes to retalitory action, the term "sledge hammer to crack a nut" springs to mind, as was seen on their attack on Lebanon last year. Hamas must know that they are in a no-win situation, and all that they're achieving is to make the rest of the Palastinian population life a misery.
The sadness I feel about the whole sordid affair, is exacerbated by the lack of involvement of not only the UN, but also the Arab League. Why are they so slow to react?
In fact the only time that I hear about the Arab League is when they have their annual general meeting, and that is not well publicised.
And what about the Gulf Co-operation Council (GCC). Can anyone tell me what have they actually done to seek a peaceful and constructive solution to the ME problems?
Yes there definately has to be a ceasefire, but this must come from both sides.
I would like to see Hamas disarmed, and dismantled or whatever one does with a terrorist political party, but the sad fact is that they were elected to govern, so there isn't much chance of that happening
Peace in the Middle East?............Nah,... I don't think so.

And unfortunately, Hamas, like Hezbollah, the Taliban, al Qaeda and rest ... are using their local population as human shields!!!

it was wrong to impose the state of israel where they did, if someone decided to turn you out of your house so some foreigners could take over and live there wouldnt you be angry?
not condoning the violence, but can understand the reason for it.
