Well you can apply for a post of village idiot. You just said "May Brown and Co rot in hell". That makes you far too intelligent to live in Scotland.

This truly hoovers! I hope you can find something quick, or are able to coast on for a bit with reserves until you can get back into something....

cheers peri. My reserves will last me a month and then it's diddlysquat, nowt. Being in a rural area the chances of something else is next to nil as others have been laid off over the past few weeks. It's pretty dire in our area, it's bad enough in the cities but in the country it's even worse and does this govt care? No of course not, as long as the city (banking and financial sector in London) is rescued everything else and manufacturing and the backbone of any workforce is simply ignored. I feel sorry for the company I was working for, and all the others who've been struggling since winter. Now most don't have any other option left but to take drastic action. Those still employed will take wage cuts and fewer hours. I can see the smaller companies going under completely and yet it's not from lack of work but funds not being made available nor customers being able to pay.
I put the blame squarely on Brown's shoulders. When Blair was PM (and the worst in my living history) his chancellor was Gordon Brown so he knew what was happening and did nowt to stop the madness, infact encouraged it further. When his lifelong ambition came true and he became PM he remained silent and let the city bankers run wild. Now it's collapsed and he's on a mission to save the world, he's not given a thought to the British worker at all. We don't exist. I am so very very angry, and afraid for the future. If he ever came here I'd want to tear him from limb to limb.

Aye J,it is getting worse pal and i think it's only the tip of the iceberg by the looks of things.
I said tae ma wife you can bet that many of these companies who are in the black still lay off workers just to make sure of more cash flow,a cert if there ever was one.
