New Forth Bridge.

Now that the decision has been taken to build a new Forth crossing and estimates have been given ranging from £2.5 B - £4.5 B, how long will it be before those estimates rise to twice that much - or more? Just like the Hollyrood building fiasco had done.

Will it last when built just a little bit longer in time and safer than the "squinty" bridge has done so over the Clyde in Glasgow before faults are noticed and is closed for repairs?
Is there any alternative?

Always take the price and X it by five.

That's a point, why is it always an estimate and not a price that they have to build to?
Why are they never held to a price?
Give them the plan, don't make any changes and tell them it has to be built to the price quoted.

Better still, let them come up with the plan and hold them liable for repairs for the next 20 years.

Counting the Kincardine I suppose this would become the Fourth Forth bridge! Approved by the Fourth First minister although first instigated by the first first minister and followed up by the third first minister.

No doubt the First estimate won't be the last, there will probably be a Third and a Fourth estimate at around £4 Billion a time

Considering the new Kincardine crossing under construction, has anybody tried recently to navigate the roadworking's there?
It's an utter nightmare trying to fathom out just which way it is you can try to get to your intendended destination by the temporary confusion caused by the road signs displayed

Let's hope that in the long run it's well worth the wait!

Not been down that way lately.

This whole topic confuses me. Why is this suddenly a problem since the tolls have been taken away? At last someone has referred to the fact that it has not been a problem southbound. They say that there have not been any barriers there for about a decade, but that is only partially true. While the southbound barriers were indeed taken away a decade ago, they were at the south side of the bridge, so there have NEVER been any barriers on the north end of the bridge.

Have lorry drivers suddenly decided to change their habits because of the barriers? No, I don't think so.

Is it that lorry drivers coming from Fife are more sensible/ I'd love to think so, but no!!

What I believe is that FETA have spat the dummy because they have lost a income stream and are throwing up all sorts of stories to discredit the move which, to their shame, opposition parties have leaped on.

Come on, someone!!  Defend yourselves! You done good!!
