Lib Dems amendment wins Holyrood voteFor the sake of the economy parliament voted by 74 -47 to make sure that a referendum will not be help this side of the 2011 elections. Well that was easy then.
Next we will have Gordon Brown saying that for the sake of the economy he will seek to prospone any General election in 2010. Knickers to the lot of them.
The SNP should still bring before parliament next year their promised bill and then take the Unionist parties on at the election on the basis that they refused to let the people have their say.

There's no reason why he shouldn't hold his referendum. It would be years down the line before it came into effect anyway if it was a yes so there's no reason why he can't have it next year as promised. But the auld wind bag knows it's not going to happen. If the SNP win the next elections.. I wonder what excuse there'll be for postpoining it again? That, along with LIT. Mark my words, in the event they do win the next one, both of them are going to be shelved again.

Em Merek excuse me but the SNP do not have a majority so they are not prosponing anything. The refendum bill will still be put before parliament 2010 with a view to holding it 2011. The fact that we have three Unionist parties who are feart is hardly their fault. As for Labour first its BRING IT ON then its haud oan a meenit. A manifesto is for a political party to provide the voters with before an election, whether the pledges come to fuitition much depends on whether they firstly get in, and secondly command a majority. The Lab/Lib coalition did have a majority for eight years but still broke loads of pledges.
