There is nothing worse than not being able to get to sleep and the more anxious you get the worse you become.
Lavender may help you relax and a book to read.......well if you cannae sleep you may as well read a good book!
Normally if I cannot sleep I get up make myself a drink and then watch some tv, and then go back to bed.

A few weeks back I was going to bed at 11 and wakening up at the back of one and that would be me, and for nights on end no matter how tired I was it was always the same. So I decided to stay up until the back of one and then that killed that! One thing I didn't do was boot up the computer.
they say a milky drink helps....unless you are on a diet like me!

sometimes being Overtired can stop you sleeping. I know it does that to me.
An old Doctor once told me that you should train your mind into thinking quiet thoughts when you go to bed, and leave the cares of the day behind.
Sometimes when I can't sleep, I try to focus my mind on an empty beach with palm trees swaying gently and little waves lapping round my feet. Sounds strange, but it works. Another thing I try is playing soft peaceful music very quietly, it often works too.

Stress can play havoc with the subconcious. I find if I've had a particularly stressful day I have a horrendous nights sleep.
Hope things sort itself out for you El

A nice relaxing bath does work wonders. So many people shower nowadays though, and that does nothing for stress levels.
