FreeviewHow does this work?
If I buy A Freeview box, is it a case of plugging it in & that's it all done?
I understand that there are no subscription fees etc etc.
We don't have the digital signal in our area yet but I've been told that makes no difference.

You will probably need a new aerial Sandy! They don't broadcast on the same channels as normal tv!
But, other than that, you get about 50 channels for nowt!

Sounds like I need to phone the local aerial guy first & get his advice. He'll know what's best for this area.

Good idea!

Try it first Sandy.
Depending on the signal strength you may get it.
If you get a good picture on Channel 5 you may not need to change the aerial.
Chances are you may have to though.

Ask someone that doesn't watch much TV!
Depends what you watch.
I don't watch anything the missus watches.

BoB has a point . Get the box, they cost next to nowt, plug it in and see what you get! I could get about 25 channels with an aerial that's lying on the roof!
If you get the SAME channels every day it's OK..if you lose some and find others, you need your aerial checked!

Ok I'll give it a whirl.

If you don't get channel five you will be missing at least half the channels.
But don't let that stop you trying it.
If you do have to get a new aerial, get a very good one.

When we first got a freeview box, we just used a normal ariel plugged in and sat on top of the tv - we got most channels.
Then we moved...and my gawd, you should see the size of the ariel that the previous owner has installed in the attic!! We get all the freeview channels now...
