So it's been announced ... a 26 year old actor called Matt Smith will take over fron Tennant in 2010 as the new Doctor.
Haven't seen him act in anything, but he looks quirky enough to carriy it off ... and he respects the history and the legacy.
Tennant was always going to be a hard act to follow, but I'm quite willing to give Smith a chance ... because my gut feeling says he can do it.

Old TART!!!
Carol
less of the old

I'm not keen on Tennant, to be honest.
I preferred that Ecclescake chappy, he was way better.
The Dr Who on Christmas day, was utter doggypoo, I reckon.
Merlyn
I like Dr Who, apart from David Tennants overacting.
When it came back with Christopher Eccelston, I very much enjoyed it.
But I really like Torchwood better, its a very dark, and moody series.
I hope they are making another series, it ended strangely, in the last episode.
Lord Blackadder
Torchwood is going nightly for the next series. Over the space of ONE WEEK.
And they're toning down the sex and the "dark and moody" for the American market.
It sold very well ... but the Yanks being what they are, are scared of the extreme right Christians in their midst! So, it's not gonna be the same!
Anyway ... it should be interesting now that Burn Gorman and Naoko Mori are gone. Didn't like him at all ... and Tosh was severely restricted in her role.
Thanks for posting that, Welshie. I hadn't seen it.
But like you ... I can't wait!!! YAAAAYYYY!!!
Xcotty
11th of April it is on.
Full Tilt Boogie
Can't comment on this new guy - although some of the women in my site did have a few opinions of him - see HERE.
I'm not really bothered who plays him, as long as they maintain the quality of the product. Christopher Eccleston was top knotch in the rol (albeit too short lived), this current Jockanese lad's been good too, so I just hope this new guy doesn't make an utter James of it.

The new companion is revealed.
Quote:
The new companion, starring opposite Matt Smith when Doctor Who returns for a full series in Spring, 2010, has been revealed! She has appeared previously in Doctor Who, playing the Soothsayer in the Tenth Doctor adventure, The Fires of Pompeii. In that episode the Doctor admits, 'I sometimes need someone' and from 2010 that someone will be Karen Gillan!
After winning the coveted role, Karen, 21, announced, 'I am absolutely over the moon at being chosen to play the Doctor's new companion. The show is such a massive phenomenon that I can't quite believe I am going to be a part of it.'
Karen grew up in Inverness, Scotland and developed a love for acting very early on, attending several youth theatre groups and taking part in a wide range of productions at her school, Charleston Academy.
Aged 16, Karen decided she wanted to pursue her acting career further and a year later secured a place at the prestigious Italia Conti academy in London. During her first year she landed a role in Rebus and soon appeared in a variety of programmes including Channel 4's Stacked and The Kevin Bishop Show. Karen also stars in the forthcoming film Outcast starring James Nesbitt.
When does the new chap take over then Miss Welsh one?
Also has anyone else noticed the resemblance between that Tennant chap,
and the new feller in Eastenders, who's name evades me?????
Syad Mashood, I think is the name.
I have run out of ciggy papers.....Bum
Mad Welshie
I believe He takes over from 2010. David goes out with a bang later this year, if I have got the right facts.
Xcotty
Sorry Miss W, but I wish it was sooner.
I really canny stand that Tennant chappy at all.
Why didn't Christopher Ecclescake, just stay? Bumhole that he is.
Anyhoo, I reckon it's time for a female Dr.
I think Samantha Janus would be awfly good in that role.
Or failing that Steph Scully from neighbours, who I ain't forgotton about.
Mad Welshie
I think Mr Tennant is a really great doctor and best of all he is Scottish.
Xcotty
Aye he might be Scottish, but his accent is just a tad fake.
He reminds me of Lulu, who only uses it in certain places.
I wonder why he couldn't be a Scottish Dr?
I know he's from a different planet, and all that.
But he uses English, so why not Scottish?
Man, I'm bursting for a pee.

Exactly my thoughts Xcotty you and me mate, you and me lol
Mad Welshie
I am going to miss David when he leaves.
Xcotty
He'll get another series on something else though Miss Welshie.
I reckon Dot Cotton, should be the new Dr now.
Aye Eloise, great minds, and all that.
eloise
Lulu really pi**es me off, speaking in a Scots accent when it suits her, she should be proud of her roots.
Mad Welshie
Dot Cotton as Dr Who. What a shocker that would be?
Xcotty
Aye, no smoking in the Tardis, Dot would implode.
Eloise, I totally agree, and Sheena Easton, why the fake American accent?
rickyross3359
Sheena Easton never got away with it though. Remember that concert she did a few years back now. Loads o' bottles where flung at her. She vowed never to return to Scotland again. Can't say she's been missed.
Dot Cotton and her fags. June Brown in real life says she smokes 60 a day! Wonder she's managed to get to 80.
Xcotty
Dot Cotton, smokes 60 a day????? Jeezo, no wonder she looks like that.
Sheena Easton, what a flipping flowerpot she is.
Mad Welshie
Does anyone know when Dr Who is on again, it justs says later this year?
