Do You Want some Beaver?

Noo, should we bring back the Beaver to Scotland? There are plans to reintroduce Beaver to Scotland, however they only want to introduce European Beaver and nae Canadian Beaver. scottybee can you tell me why I should not be exposed to Canadian Beaver? Personally, when it comes to different types o' Beaver, I don't give a dam.

Noo, I could be frivolous, silly, cheeky and rather immature and put up a Bobby Burns poem, but I won’t.

Ach to hell, I will:

c*** Up Your Beaver

When first my brave Johnie lad came to this town,
He had a blue bonnet that wanted the crown;
But now he has gotten a hat and a feather,
Hey, brave Johnie lad, c*** up you beaver!

c*** up your beaver, and c*** it fu' sprush;
We'll over the border and gie them a brush;
There's somebody there we'll teach better behaviour,
Hey, brave Johnie lad, c*** up your beaver!

No, I don't think we should re-introduce the beaver of any nationality back into Scotland's rivers.
They cut down trees, strip the bark for food, killing trees and dam rivers causing flooding, and we have enough flooding these days.

We have managed without these critters for decades, so what's the point?
Rabbits were introduced here by the Normans for food and sport in the 12th century and we all know the destruction rabbits can cause. Grey squirrels were also introduced here from the continent leading to the decimation of our own red squirrel.
What next, Wolves? Bears? Wild boars?
I wonder what our farmers think of this suggestion?

It's bad enough having domestic cats fouling our back gardens without some or all of the above crapping in them as well.

allanp,

Ok, I take it then that you don't like Beaver. Fair enough.
