cityboy - Geraint AndersonTescos sells some decent paperbacks at really good prices, less than half sometimes. Picked one up couple of days ago. The title intriqued me cos of the current economic climate with the credit crunch, greedy bankers etc, etc, and considering it was written about a year to eighteen months ago, almost prophetic but riotous.
So far I'm really enjoying Cityboy by Geraint Anderson (who I think amongst other things used to be a stockbroker or similar himself). Anyone remember Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, well cityboy is dubbed Beer and Loathing in the Square Mile. The one liners are laugh out loud stuff.
For instance the analysts and the traders hate each other but need each other so have to work together. The analysts tend to be oxbridge and well-off and patronising. The traders, wideboys who can blag and sell, live on pies and overweight. Eg.
'Anyway, Daryl, why are you such a fat b******?'
"Because everytime I f*** your wife she gives me a biscuit"
It's fast moving. It's also scarey because he exposes how the financial world is really run.
So if you fancy a good read I recommend it. Not for the squeamish!
