Borrow now, pay later.Does anyone think that Government borrowing to buy our way out of this latest financial World crisis is the best way of "getting back on track"?
I have witnessed downturns in World markets in the 80's, 90's and in the early 2000's but have never seen such panic like this before now.
I can appreciate that depositors to banks should be protected with their cash kept in these banks, but apart from that aspect I cannot.
Now we are going to borrow much, much more to fund tax cuts which we will have to repay back later with tax hikes.
I have investments in a portfolio of shares and these have taken a battering lately, but I appreciate that these will recover given time.
I really don't kmow if our Government is doing the right thing by borrowing more money, but I would like to know just who these faceless financier's are, and how much more profit they are getting out of it by doing so and lending us these vast amounts of cash.
Is it the Arab's or the Jews, or are we being held to ransom in the future?

Credit cards and the willingness to hand them out to anyone regardless has IMO been one of our greatest problems/failures.

Yes...and the price of oil being at an all-time low and we're paying 20-odd pence more per litre than we were 18 months ago doesn't help! We're being screwed by the energy companies and the Gov couldn't give a toss! But we'll have our day, no worries

In answer to your question Allan, I would say no, don't borrow.
This is exactly why we are in this mess, in the first place.

Agree totally, don't borrow unless you can afford to pay back the loan later.
