Board becoming mundane and boring.Is it only me who thinks that this board has become somewhat stagnated with joke threads, soaps and pics of where some posters have been off on holiday? Remember those boring slide shows of the '80s which we were subjected to at house parties?
I remember that not too long ago these boards were fun to be on where we could have a laugh about, and discuss (argue) many other topics.
Sadly many of those characters have now left here and moved on.
Is it any wonder they have done so?
Maybe perhaps like some, I relive past memories when these boards were worth some "air time", but now I feel that soon I too might as well move on to another board for more innovative topics.
I'm sorry if I've touched a nerve to some, but posters to this board have to accept some responsibility to this decline on this once enjoyble and worthwhile board.

I agree on some parts AllanP....but it's not just this board. Others are falling by the wayside, and my theory is that a lot of folk are on Facebook.

I don't want to talk politics. I can never remember funny stories. I don't watch soap. There's very few games I like so if all the board were like me - there's your answer Allan  Fortunately there are members of this board who are very funny indeed.
Personally I look for a laugh. If folk want to have a "discussion" that's fine too as long as they don't lose the heid which happened in the past a LOT ! (Mind you that's probably where most of the laughs came from for the rest of us  )

This is my opinion.
The River City section, is here, because, thats where I met most of my pals.
The main site has gone, and I wanted to make sure, everyone there had somewhere to go.
I know not everyone watches that soap, but a lot do, so it's here for them.
The jokes for me, and I'm sure many others, are a welcome relief from,
the miserable world that can be out there.
I might not comment on every joke, but I do enjoy reading them.
If they make me smile, hopefully they make someone else smile.

So FTS, has always been a release for me, I reckon those who know me,
will tell you, I haven't changed the way I post, since I began posting.

Thank you for your very kind and genuine comments as to my latest POV.
I did not say that I will be leaving, only that I'm thinking of contributing elsewhere on the odd occassion.
I, as I've said before, only find this board sometimes not to my own individual taste. This happens to us all.
I will not leave, nor ignore this board. Let's just say that I will be much more selective in posting to, or answering a thread in future.
In the meantime, I hope all you posters will continue to contribute to this my most favourable Scottish comments site, and I will continue to see you all often and maybe moan a bit from time to time.
I trust you all will understand.
You will not get rid of me that easily.

Alan I expect most people on here have full time jobs, it is not always easy to get here, I have posted photo's in the past and will continue to do so if I think they may be of interest to others, I spend most of my time in the River City section as that is my interest, not everyone's taste but then I stay away from the Politics bit as I have no interest in that, may be an idea to open new threads to get people communicating we can all do that if we wish

How sad is that admission Eloise. You bury your head in the proverbial sand of everyday life within a fictitious soap programme where characters are scriptwrited, but then admit to ignore normal everyday aspects of other peoples common humdrum lives. You really do have to get out and about.

I do not consider it "sad" as you put it, you have an interest in horse racing, that is YOUR CHOICE I would never slate anyone for their interests, I do not get in to political arguments as that is a personal thing to me, I have my opinions and you have yours leave it there, if you want to fight pop along to a boxing club, I work hard all day and If I choose to lose myself in a soap I will continue to do so, do not preach to me about getting out and about, you know nothing about me, take a spoonful of sugar mate it may sweeten you up a bit

Instead of all the nagative comments about why you think the board has gone stale and boring (your words), why don't you come up with ideas of how the board can be improved or what you would like to see here, i'm sure you can be accomodated.
It's normal at this time of year for a board to slow down, if you look at other boards, as i'm sure you're a member of more than one, you'll see that there's a degee of inactivity on them too.
If you're still not happy with this board you always have the option of leaving, not that i'm asking you to do so, i hasten to add.
So let's have more positive attitude, not just from Allan, but everyone else, let's see some more posts and get this board back to the fun place it always has been.

Just like the rest of us do.

I hear what you say and will comply of course. However you have to admit that in no way have I done anything other than disagree with another posters POV. Don't tell me I must disgree politely by thanking someone for a comment made against me, or agree to disagree with them.
All in all I think I have generated more interest in a way by raising valid points and getting others to participate to this thread.
If I cannot, or not be allowed to, then perhaps this board may well shut down anyway regardless of my do's and dont's.
Please try to understand my reasoning in this and I truly apologise to everyone whom I have upset.
Will they in turn now apologise for the blankety blanks though. Will you now ask them to?

Of course we all won't get on all the time, I cant do anything about that.
But, I have to say it, as I see it.
This can either carry on, or not, I don't edit, or delete anyones posts.
But avoiding certain threads, can sometimes be the only thing to do.
No one is better than anyone else in my eyes.
It's good to see you all posting, and helping to keep this place going.
It might be quiet a lot of the time, but it's been like that for a long time.
Yet, it still keeps going, thanks to everyone posting on this thread,
and to those who post elsewhere, and kept out of this thread.
For the record, I watch River City every week, because I enjoy it.
Also, the fact it's a Scottish soap, and this is a Scottish forum, well
it makes sense to me, to have a section for it here.
Just because someone likes something someone else doesn't.
I don't see how that makes them "sad"?
In fact, it makes me interested to know why they like things.
You were on the original FTS, so maybe you will remember when I used to get blasted,
for joking around, and not taking anything seriously?
Thats my personality, I prefer to try to make people smile.
Way back then, a lot of folk were getting abused on the board.
For not enjoying the same things, as others did.
There were a lot of bullies on the first version of FTS.
No, I'm not calling you a bully Allan, so don't think I am.
But that part of FTS1, sickened me, so I started to fight back at them.
This is why, I try to keep this place as friendly as possible.
Arguments will always happen, and I'll try to mediate, but I won't,
put words into anyone elses mouths, or edit, or delete, to make it look
like a sunny forum.
I think you are all brilliant, and I'd buy you all a pint, if I could.
Thats it for now, I'll try to get back here tomorrow.

Because, if you don't know about something, then as far as I'm concerned, your opinion doesn't count for anything.
To put it into words that you may understand........if you don't vote, then you are not entitled to spout your political opinion. If you can't be bothered to even try to change things in your favour, then don't moan about the outcome.
However, no doubt you do have an opinion about everything. I guess it's our choice whether we can be bothered to read about it.

Sometimes a good wee board such as this one,can go to ruin just by a few folk making statements,whether real or jokingly,and end up with an argy bargy.
Alan,at the end of the day,i think anyone is entitled to do whatever they want on the net,whether it be viewing music,programs, or anything else for that matter and it ain't for anyone to tell the other person what they should do otherwords,we would be living in a 1984 situation,though to be fair,you did apologize.
