Bin the Olympics.

Will the 2012 Olympics be an embarrassment due to a lack of funding because of our current financial situatation or will we have to borrow more cash to help it out?

We are going to be taxed enough in the future because of borrowing to overcome this problem, so should we now gracefully accept our shortcomings and hand the Olympics over to another Country and save what little honour we have left?

I mean, what price the running and jumping richer individuals over the poorer, much more worthy population of Britain who deserves more?

Politicians need not answer, ( well they never do ) as they are getting paid enough and can claim expenses for anything they choose.
Neither wonder crime pays better than honesty does.

I doesn't bother me that London is holding the Olympics my only concern is that other funding is being side lined and to be honest the lottery should not be funding it.  That is why the so called "Dream number" should be a big no no for the people of Scotland.

Well it bothers me that London is hosting the olympics. It was the perfect excuse to pump billions into the regeneration of the shithole that is East London ahead of and to the detriment of plenty of other areas of the country in need of regeneration.

And the biggest laugh is this from Tessa Jowell at the announcement that London had won it:

“We can and will avoid the cost over-run which Athens experienced and the long-term debt which some other previous host cities have had to deal with,” she told the BBC’s Newsnight programme after the announcement.

It's gone from £3billion to somewhere in the region of £12billion so far!!  And the cost is likely going to end up the £15-£20 billion region. Can't remember the blokes name, but the guy who was first choice for heading up the olympic committee turned it down cause he reckoned £3bn was far too low and the costs would be more likely to be in the £15bn. Obviously a bloke who knew what he was talking about.

This sounds to me very similar to the Hollyrood original budget scenario or indeed the millenium dome fiasco.

Scotland could not afford it then, nor London now given this current cash flow situatation.

Wasted money on useless and pointless projects is like shit flowing down a sewer... What a waste of effort!!
