Bin Scots English.Now is the time to stop those posters who try to bamboozle us with replies or posts that are unintelligible, with unusual scots words that are not recogised by us.
I try really hard to read these types of posters, but give up deciphering them very quickly.
I truly want and aspire to contribute to this board, but I feel as though I'm being edged out by those types of posters.
I know that you Mods have said that we all should be interested and that I should persevere somewhat, but I am getting a bit pissed off with it.
Perhaps if it does continue unabated I will have to consider going elsewhere to talk and be therefore understood.
Do others feel similar?

Aw Allan, don't go pal, it took me a wee while to get it, but I'm nearly there.
I enjoy a good puzzle, and look at it from that perspective.
It's actually very clever, and once you crack it, its good.
The trick to it, is read it, exactly as it's written, thats how I do it.

AllanP eh thought you were only having some fun, never thought someone from Scotland was serious about wanting others to not talk/write Scots. 
AllanP Eh have lived in USA for 46 years eh still speak the same way now as eh did when eh first got off the plane and eh am proud tae say that!
And people ower here understand me?
(Like in here eh mibe speak a wee buttie more English.)
When eh was in school, many a belt/strap eh got for talking Dundonian in the playground and eh was not the only one told to speak the "Queens English" or else.
But that never stopped me, if anything made me more stubborn about keeping it going.
And eh am proud tae speak like a Scot fae meh neck of the woods.
(Although eh am guilty o' saying things the way an Aberdonian or a Glasgow person does on occasion.)
Eh do write half in English so foreigners can understand and I have been thanked by foreigners in different parts of the world for writing the way eh do.
Eh do dislike to admit, not being able to speak Gaelic.
But it's beyond meh ken.
All eh ask of you is, do not leave on the account of people like me, just ignore me/us if it bugs you.
If you wish I can write things as I have done a couple times with the translation, for a week or so to help you grasp it?
But as you have put it to a vote, eh will stand beh the majority decision.

If you want tae type in English . . do so . .If WeeJee wants tae use Dundonian, he's entitled to . .If I want tae use the Doric now and again , it's dein you nae hairm, so ignore it !!

I think we should have that freedom to express ourselves in a guid Scots tongue if we wish to. It isn't hard to understand. It's not as if its Gaelic!

I was tempted to ignore this also, but I would ask you this...If you were sending out a CV for a job in Scotland that you really wanted or needed.
Would you apply for this much needed job in English, or Guid auld Scots?

Do you really say "eh" and "meh" ? That seems a wee bit odd to me cos we would say "Ah" and "ma" but then I'm from the west coast

Yes we do as in:-
Eh went tih meh mithirs last nicht.
I went to my mothers last night.
You are right I have a cousin in Greenock he uses the Ah and ma. 
Eh remember the first time eh went to Forfar 16 miles awah fae Dundee,when I got aff the bus, eh didnah hae a clue whut they were saying, their dialect was totally different from ours.

Aifter aw' yer gibberin' here and on other Scottish orientated sites where you caused unnecessary sadness and insult, it micht be best if ye took yersel' awa NOW afore ither folk tak ower muckle notice o' yer cludgie-fodder.
It's afa easy tae cause upset tae folk and cud be accepted if ye wery jist a'peepin-tom' kinda contributor.

I really didnae ken whit tae dae whae masel jist at the meenit. Neer dae a wan tae cause a rammy in thon stair heid.
Actually after working doon South in Buckinghamshire for many years its really good to hear English with a wee bit of character. I am also from the West coast so I hear a lot of "It's pure pish by the way, so it is". Most phrases I hear at work have "Pure" "Deid" "By the way" maybe that's just a West coast sort of a thing? That aside I love the Doric and Scots.

Neither have I funny enough. I suppose I should of said West of Scotland and not West coast - But Paisley Gilmour Street can take me to the coast in a flash. Great train service lol

I speak Scottish myself, but I can never bring myself to write as I speak iyswim - it just seems weird.
Each to their own in the end.

I've had to do a few verses as obituaries for friends. I always write in Scots, as it adds character to the scheme of what I'm trying to say. I think the term is Lallans but Lallans has been bastardised into different dialects.
My good pal for more than 40 years was killed on a bike in July last year. His family asked for a verse specifically in Scots.
Derek Turley was also known as DeeTee or " Preacher" and was a brother member of Kilmarnock Tiger Motorcycle club.
Here's what I wrote. Let me know if you feel it would have been better in Queen's English.........
The ties that bind are no jist blood, they're made wi' bein' richt,
Tae ken wha' ye can ca' for help e'en in the dark o nicht
Dee Tee was wan o' them tae ca' when needin' a guid haun
But " Preachers" ta'en frae us gey sine, noo family needs oor staun

I have to say that I love reading scots. I have learnt so much. If you read it carefully you will be amazed just how much you can really understand. To those Scots like WJ, Shillin and BoB, thanks for the help you have given me over the last year in understanding Doric. Long may it continue.

That's what I thought and for the same reason, I think writing in Scots can add character to posting on messageboards.
Ere twas guid enough for Rabbie tae scribe in and fur the nabbery tae extol the virtues, then, it'll dae fur me.
Muckle waur is poor spelling and punctuation.............

For lunch I've just had a couple of pieces with "affa fine" sausage in them.
That's how the butcher advertises them. ( and they are affa fine but that's by the by.
Its a great language, this Scots where you can take a negative and enhance the positive.
" c'moan get aff" is another.
If we spik that wey, then whit's wrang wi' typin' that wey?
