Bad news

The RC board is closing, it was posted on the board earlier today boooo!!
Xcotty

BoB, who posted this?
Xcotty

We need to push OUR forum link on that site before it closes.
Those folk will need somewhere to carry on, and this is as good a place as any for them all.
First chance, I get, I'll try to do a post there.
I got banned for doing that before, but maybe now, I'll be allowed to do it?
If it's closing, then surely, no-one will moan about it?
Everyone is welcome to join here, and post.

Can anyone here, who posts there do the same thing please?
Just incase, I'm still banned, and canny do it?
I'd really appreciate that.

All we need to do, is post the link, and let folk know, they are welcome here.
I see nothing wrong in doing that?
I canny do anything now, as the board is closed for the night.

The River City messageboard will be closing at 1400 on Friday, 15 May. We know this is going to disappoint a lot of you but we hope you understand why we've made this decision. Running the messageboard requires a lot of staff time, time we feel can be spent updating and creating new and exciting content for the website. Your input has been hugely valuable over the years and we have no wish to discourage that interaction. We do feel it's very important for the viewers and visitors to the website to have a say about the show.

The massive rise in popularity of social networking has provided interesting platforms for interactivity. We hope to be able to move forward to bring you new ways of sharing your thoughts about River City.

For starters, there's the Backstage Blog: www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/.... It's becoming increasingly popular and we promise big plans for it - there's a brand new look coming soon, and more fun and exciting stories from behind the scenes. All existing messageboard users can add their comments to our blog posts and it's easy for new users to sign up and join in.

To do this, just click on 'comment' underneath a blog post. It'll prompt you to sign in, accept the terms and conditions (if you haven't done so already), and have your say! Please do note that this isn't a direct replacement for the messageboard format. Posts on the blog are reactively-moderated, just as they have been on the messageboard. Please do make sure you're aware of the House Rules: www.bbc.co.uk/messag....

If you prefer messageboard chat, then the Points Of View messageboard will let you continue discussing River City: www.bbc.co.uk/dna/mb.... You can use your existing login to do so.

The Digital Spy website's forum has a River City thread that you may like to visit: www.digitalspy.co.uk....

Over on Facebook, there are two places to chat with fans. The River City group: www.facebook.com/hom... and the River City Fan page: www.facebook.com/pag.... Neither of these are official BBC pages but could be a great place for Facebook users to chat about the show.

We are looking into other social networking places and more modern, progressive ways for interaction. As soon as anything new is announced, we'll post links on the official River City website. www.bbc.co.uk/riverc....

If you have any comments about the messageboard closure then please do one of the following:

1. Add your comments to the specific thread on the Backstage Blog. Any comments about this closure will be removed from any other blog posts. Please stick to the relevant thread to avoid disruption, to make your host's job easier and avoid spoiling other users' enjoyment of the blog.

2. Visit the Complaints page and fill in an online complaint form. www.bbc.co.uk/compla...

3. Write to: BBC Information, PO Box 1922, Glasgow G2 3WT, or telephone 03700 100 222.

The River City team values your enthusiasm about the show and we hope that you continue to enjoy the goings-on in Shieldinch every Tuesday from 2000 on BBC One Scotland (and whenever you like on the iPlayer!). Please be assured that the closure of the messageboard will not affect the TV show. We'll continue to work hard to put River City on your screens every week.

If you have this messageboard bookmarked then you'll be able to find it again to re-read old discussions. However, you will no longer be able to post on the board and links to the board will be removed from the River City website from Friday, 15 May at 1400.

We are confident you'll enjoy what we have in store for River City on TV and on the web. Thank you for all your input on the board over the years.

All the best,
River City Team

Have done it for you Xcotty no probs, not really bothered it's going, still lots of kids/multiple log in's being used over there, here is much better.

Oh well looks like i'll be getting banned for posting the link to here, they have removed my post with the link, suppose the next step is a ban, ah well nothing lost it's closing anyway.

No idea!
Someone had been messing with the permissions
They hopefuly won't be able to do it again.

Maybe it was just someone not logged in

You know who you are
rickyross3359

I am bothered that it is closing because it was the only Scottish BBC site left open.  I really wished we had devolved powers over broadcasting or at least some sort of evidence that BBC Scotland really is BBC Scotland.

eloise

Oh my God how pathetic, I have now had more posts removed because they contained the link to here , and have now been put on pre mod FFS
Pammybaby

strange, maybe they just dont want anyone to be posting links on there or something
eloise

Well they should say so they have allowed RMcGeddon to post a link to Scotsgait !!!!!!!!!!!
Pammybaby

Maybe they dont like FTS lol
Xcotty

I discovered I wasn't banned, I forgot you have to log in there.

Well I asked a very polite question, I think so anyway?
So if I don't get a reply, I'll take it that I can post the link there.
Eloise, thank you for your kind words over there, I really appreciate that pal.

Hi everyone well I am glad we have a place here to continue to discuss RC.  I wonder if I could ask that the RC space on here sort of be revamped as at the moment the topics are all over the place.  One topic is over three pages and many have used it just to post their next posting.  Jings I am finding it difficult to explain exactly what I mean
In any case I suppose this will be the main RC site now that is if you don't do a load of network facebooks, twittering and alsorts.
Will our moderators Eloise and Pammybaby be paid an increase in their salary for moderating this now?

Welcome to Dolly Salva.  Loved seeing Scarlett with a gun in Taggart tonight. She had a bit of a posher accent but it was still her really.
I don't do Facebook or Bebo either Eloise but I just started doing twitter recently.  Its quite fun just sending a quick "One liner".
Pammybaby

I have never got round to signing up to that message board, and I went to do it today and discovered the link to here, If the bbc staff haven't got time to mod it etc, why didn't they just ask a few dedicated users of the site to mod it? pretty simple really!

You're very welcome
Xcotty

I appreciate the work done here by Eloise, and Pammy Ricky.
So Aye, they do get a payrise pal.

Two extra hugs a week.

As for the sections bud, thats not so easy, but I'm thinking about summat.
I'll need to run it by BoB, first though.
If this section gets busy, we can subforum some of it.
eloise

I think Ricky meant new threads to be honest, if not Ricky can you explain what you mean mate.
