I am about halfway through Watching the Door by the controversial journalist, Kevin Myers.
As the title suggests, he recalls with some irony living/cheating death in 1970’s Belfast when the troubles were at their murderous peak. According to Andrew Marr:
‘Sex, drink, betrayal, cowardice, bravery, more drink and beyond all this, always, the violence…This book stinks of the truth’
A provocative read. |

I'm rereading Bernard Cornwell's Arthurian "Warlord Trilogy" ... great books! Recommended! _________________ Non Poster By Request |

I googled to find out a bit more and while I haven’t read any books based on the Arthurian myth this does get some good reviews, Blackadder. I kind of like the lazy idea of listening to the unabridged audio recording, particularly if it is well read.
(I’m not certain but I seem to remember from our previous fts board, mwl saying that she enjoyed Arthurian mythology…some common ground perhaps? ) |

I wouldn't know.
The Mary Stewart "Merlin" trilogy is also a great jumping-on point for all things Arthurian. Also Rosemary Sutcliff's "Sword At Sunset". _________________ Non Poster By Request |

The best books I've read about Arthur are a series written by Jack Whyte. There are nine of them and the series is called, "The Camulod Chronicles. They start long before Arthur is born. Highly recommended.
The Warlord series is also excellent.
