Swine flu pandemic?

So, whatever happened to the greatest scourge to humankind since the bubonic plague or smallpox then?

Some sources say that it has been not as bad as was first expected, others say that there is perhaps worse yet to come.

Doom, Gloom and Armageddon, along with the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse could only be more laughable.

Remember bird flu last year? Spanish flu? German flu before that?

All of these are only fever and general ailments each year to us all that after a few days most of us recover from.
Why therefore should we all be subjected to this scaremongering every year?
Answer? I wish I could give you one.

I only know two folk who have definately had it Allan.
It did make them really ill, not like a normal flu, if there is such a thing?
But both are doing well, and I wonder, if things are just too clean now?

Mind we were chucked into the same room, with kids with measles/mumps etc,
When we were kiddlywinks Allan?
I'm not sure if that still happens or not?
But aye, the body needs to build up an immunity to disease, but won't get a chance,
if everything is so clean, that you cant come in contact with anything.

So once, an oddity like those flu's, come along, it hits really hard?

Aye a good bit of muck and grime as a wean and the body does build up its own immunity. We even used to eat the leaves in the grass calling them "Soories" probably tasted a bit sour because the dugs had just pissed on them!
Still everything is Detol wipes and antibacterial sprays for this that and the other. It is all too clean and we will be paying for it.

Aye, we used to call them "Souriks"

They were like a small Docken leaf if I remember correctly and quite bitter, they made your mouth water.

They are like docken leaves BoB, but they are a bit smaller.
I honestly use them in salads, you need to get them young before they start getting wrinkly.

(Am I talking about Camilla?)

When they are fresh, they have a nice sweet taste.

Soories, Souriks, I wish I knew the right name for them?

I'll try to find out, and get back to you.
