First thing to do is go into programmes and go to Start Up and look for programmes in there that start with your computer.
Office is the main culprit.
Any programme you do not use as soon as your computer starts, right click and delete it.
This will not delete it but will stop it starting.
There are programmes out there that give you even more control over what starts......But you need to know what you are doing.
Try the first option, but think what you are about to stop, i.e. don't stop your Virus Checker or Firewall. Stop and think first, if you are not sure come back for advice and leave it running.
Spy-ware is also a cause of slow starts and slow running, but as the computer gets older we all add more programmes and the computer has the work of keeping tabs on all these programmes.
You can also help by deleting all history and stored pages from the computer.
Tolls/Internet Options/Browser History/Delete and select what you want to delete.
Temporary Files and history are good to start with.
Temporary files is the best one to start with.
CAUTION: Passwords will delete all remembered login & passwords, so you better have a note of them!
Cookies can also remove the ability of a website to know you, so you will need to know your passwords to log in again!
If this does not help come back and see if we can offer further advice or point you in the right direction. _________________ Inverurie Webcam
