Been reading this week's Sunday Mail and The Motherwell Times,and there were a couple of stories regarding shops in Airdrie and Motherwell town centres closing down due to the high cost of rents and rates.

Shops that have been there for years and years now find that they are unable to cope with the high costs and are closing down faster than flies move around a shite.

When are local authorities ever going to realise that if they have shops they have income,not bloody charity shops and fast food shops every 20 yards or so,Airdrie.Motherwell,Bellshill,Wishaw and god knows how many other places are going to the dogs thanks to these councils,waken up for heaven's sake.

It's happening in Edinburgh too, Sid. Shops that have been around since before Methuselah (or Carol) was a kid are going to the wall too!!!

It doesn't take a financial whizz kid to use a bit of common sense,but you would think a bit of savvy would help these clowns to keep the shops up and running.
