I liked the first series then it got a bit silly, just my opinion though...
I hate Dr Who but like all versions of Star Trek (OK, I never said I was normal!)

Like others Primeval first time around was very good, but didn't enjoy the second lot very much.
I'm currently into Heroes these days. The first series was excellent viewing, the second was drab but got better, this third series is quickly becoming addictive viewing although I think it has X-men undertones with goodies versus baddies, but still lot's better than other mundane crappy viewing on the box nowadays.

I watched the first of Heroes...Yes it was great...the second bad and I stopped seeing it...Will have to go back and catch up...
What about Prison Break do you or have you seen it Alan....and/or Zaf...

I've been watching Dr. Who when it was a red both......They could have been re-runs because I'm just a kid....

I'm with those who liked the first series of Primeval, and then, I too, found it a bit "samey". I'll still watch it though. 
I have been a Dr Who fan, since episode one with William Hartnell, and even struggled through the Sylvester McCoy/Colin Baker episodes, so I think I'm in for the long haul.
I have to admit that I am enjoying Dark Angel re-runs at the moment, but my favourite programme (which is not on at the moment) is NCIS - I just love the fact that they manage to get a serious story (including forensics etc), but still have a great feeling of "team", and the personalities. It has some very good comedic touches. I love the Doctor's (David McCallum) mum - (Nina Foch) - she is a sublime character, who unfortunately is not in it enough. The team have genuine affection, and the interaction is great. If you haven't watched this, it is worth a try.

One programme I am now loving (but really didn't like at all when I first watched it, and for the next several times I popped into in) is Bones. I couldn't get to grips with all the dysfunctional personalities, but I have now, totally changed, and would say that it is in my top three programmes to watch.
But, I would have to say that most evenings I am into watching Law & Order, Law & Order Criminal Intent, and Law & Order Special Victims Unit (I absolutely love the Lenny Briscoe character, RIP Jerry Orbach)
I'm afraid that I am becoming very disillusioned with a lot of British television, and find that I am looking out good quality American shows (I know they make some doozeys too)
Another one which I am enjoying at the moment is Eli Stone, but I'm not a hundred percent that that will be a long haul. |

I like both Primeval, and Dr Who.
Anything that takes the mind on a journey from the real world, I like.
I have to admit, I have never seen Hero's at all. 
I liked "Lost", but only ever saw the first 2 series.
I only have 4 basic channels, and we cant get channel 5 here.
So I canny see "Lost" now.
I love Sci Fi, and the original Star Trek, was amazing when I was a kid.
I still reckon it's the best.
Loved Farscape, and was ever so sad.Hehe, when they stopped making it.

Primeval is just so bad on so many levels. Don't get me wrong, the ideas are fine ... Dougie Henshall is fine ... even Ben Miller, trying to look all officious, is fine ... it's the rest of it is just so bad!
The dialogue is stilted, the personalities of the protagonists underdeveloped, the other actors are too stiff or just not good enough, the CGI is ropey and the stories need to be a lot more pacey ... oh yeah ... and the seasons needs to be more than SIX episodes long so that all of my gripes can be addressed and fixed!!!
That's why the Yanks do this stuff better ... they give them time in any given season.
The British TV makers aren't as into Sci-fi/Fantasy and it shows ... Look how ropey Robin Hood, Merlin and Demons all are!
Doctor Who and Red Dwarf are head and shoulders above the rest of the Britfare, in terms of quality. They can compete with ANY other TV programme of ANY genre. You can't say the same for Robin Hood, Merlin or Demons ...
I have been a Sci-fi/Fantasy fan all my life. I've even written some, one story of which won a competition and got published! Plus I buy super-hero comics and Sci-fi and Fantasy books. Therefore I think I know what I'm talking about!

I see that Red Dwarf are bringing out a new short series fairly soon and I'm looking forward to that, also the new series of Heroes are starting again even sooner.

We have much more in common than I first realised.
Sci-fi is for me at least an escape away from the everyday normality of everyday hum drum life.

I rarely watch anything on TV that isn't Sci-fi or Fantasy. I'm just so bored with all the cop and medical shows. My DVD collection is all Superheroes, Historical, Horror, Comedy and Sci-fi ... with only a couple of other genres like Social Dramas represented ... but NO Rom-Coms ... NO war movies ... NO teenflicks ... apart from the ones where they all get slaughtered in highly imaginative ways.
HEROES is back on MONDAYS!!! YAAY! SMALLVILLE is on TUESDAYS ... YAAY!!! SUPERNATURAL on SUNDAYS!!!
There just so much Sci-fi and Fantasy on the various channels just now ... I'm a happy bunny.
Have you read any John Saul books, Allan???

Haven't read any John Saul books. Perhaps you might recommend one book to start me with?
I like to read Bernard Cornwell's historical novels about Ceasar and before him Stonehenge (which I'm currently reading), although the Sharpe novels are decent easy reading too.
Nigel Tranters romantic novels on Scottish History (read most if not all). Douglas Reeman's books about naval warfare in WW11 (boys own stuff).
Richard Harris pens very interesting stories also about the cold war, Stalin etc. unless I'm getting confused, because of too many authors I've read and can't remember their genre.
Sci-fi reading material though is always somewhat puzzling to me because Asimov, amongst other authors of that ilk, is way beyond me.
I love TV sci-fi as it does take away any imagination and surplants some reality, and now I've got my freeview set up and running, (no thanks to crappy Comet Falkirk), I can now enjoy those past programmes once more.
I'm currently watching all the re-runs of Auf Wiedersehen Pet which brings back many happier memories when me and my Ex were very close and laughed together. 
I really do enjoy Heroes too, but I suspect the base storyline has been expanded, maybe even corrupted to a new level taken from the X-men scenario of mutants.
Heroes is still very watchable nonetheless, but if it wasn't for all the flashbacks making it hard to follow, then it would be something really special and I suppose for me at least it would be great!
I still though look forward to next Monday.

Nope. didn't say there's owt wrong with it. Just stating what it is. One of my favourite all-time sf writers and he's in a league of his own is Ray Bradbury. He could write both, i.e.sf and sfantasy.

Neil Gaiman's Sandman is absolute quality! As is Mike Carey's Lucifer.
The graphic novels are seriously worth picking up!

Last episode in the series tonight - can't wait. Apparently we get to find out the meaning/use of the artefact.
I miss Cutter though, it just isn't the same without him, I'm hoping that next series Helen brings him back again through an anomolie.

Cornwall writes well and puts a different slant on Arthur. Not as good as Jack Whytes nine book series but still very interesting.

My son loves it as much as I do - he has all those little figures and things
I was annoyed they killed or got rid of so many main characters in just a few episodes, it took the shine off it a little for me, but I still watch it.
I have heard rumours it is getting scrapped ....anyone else heard that?
