This week it's weans, AKA children, ankle snappers, rug bandits and in some parts, Kids! but that's only when they have Goats as parents!!

I'm turning, no turned into a grumpy old man, driven to it by the modern concept of 'letting them have their way'., they're only letting off steam, Steam is it?? I just blew a gasket.

There I was quietly shopping in that famous men swear shop.
Got the new trousers which for some reason Merkins call 'pants', stepped out of the changing room to admire the new me, when
Wham, I was barged into by two screaming Kids, one right after the other, nearly fell on my ass, makes sense you see, they were chasing each other around the racks and mirrors, screaming at the top of their tinny and very loud voices.

The mummy, said almost in a regretful whisper "Stop it girls".no response or rather the opposite, the monsters she described as mere girls were by this time ready to take on Gorgonzola, well that damn Japanese Prerhistoric thing,
"Stop it" again in a quiet whisper, by this time the creatures were out of control and very much in control. The young Salesman, terrified of losing a sale(I think Daddy was buying a wardrobe) smiled benificently whilst my Salesman attempted to look angry and impatient.
It worked, I bought the trousers( 2 pairs) from the angry young salesman, seeing something of myself in him, the acting was impressive.

IN the meantime the whirlwinds disguised as mini human beings dragged 'Daddy' to the cashpoint(Getting really Merkin now, used to call them tills) all the while yelling "I want a Macdonalds" The place was by this time resembling an Oxfam shop.

I beat them too it, paid my bill and got the hell out of there.after all I still had to get the bus home

Would you like to borrow my angry face Bill?
I promise you, it's very effective pal.

Give the father a paddinginton hard stare, and make him do his duty.
Some parents are just tit's, is the word I'm looking for, I think.

I've done this afore, and it worked.

"Look after your sprogs, or I'll turn your ears inside out".

If you say that whilst hopping on one leg, and grinning manically,
for some reason, it seems to work.

weans on the rampage annoys me as well. Especially if the parent is seemingly oblivious to it.

Parents these days don't parent like they used to.
We would never have got away with half of what you see these days with kids!

Some people just don't have a clue how to control kids.

"Come on sweetie, don't hit that wee boy over the head with that bat".

My little darlings are wonderful - have never had to smack them - a look is enough for them to know that enough is enough

Thing is parents slap their children & before you know it the social services are at your door taking them into care..
There is a guy here on the island & one day coming home on the ferry his daughter was being a bloody pest to put it mildly so he warned her several times to stop it or he would smack her arse.
Needless to say she didnt & he did smack her arse once & it was a light tap, getting off the boat at Rothesay he was arrested for child abuse, apparently some do-gooding PC freak had seen this alleged assault happen & phoned the Police..
They held this poor guy for 18hrs, his daughter was examined by a doctor & he was only released when myself & another 4 witnesses came forward to say we saw what had happened..
Control your kids? not if you value your freedom

The PC brigade are just out of order these days!

Common sense ruled in the end.

I know if it were not for the odd smack I got and the threat of one I would have just pleased myself.
It is how you learn where the boundaries are.

I can understand why people don't want to hit their kids, sometimes they have to. and why it should be a last resort.
But there are times when on safety grounds you need to bring things to an end.  A smack is very effective.
I am not keen in seeing kids hit around the head at all, I think that is over the top!

It didn't do me any harm and I might have been in a lot of trouble had it not been for the odd smack.  Ouch!

Similar happened to my a pal of mine whilst in town one afternoon... kid was about to jump in a puddle and got warned that she'd get her arse smacked if she did.  So jump in it she it, and duly got her arse smacked. A couple of days later some folk from social services turned up that at the door. Some dogooders had seen it and followed him, took his car reg number and reported it.

I was a right out of control wee shite.
If my old fella, hadn't kept me in line,
I would either be dead, or in the nick.

You hear those folk saying "I blame the parents."

Of course there are parents, who really shouldn't be parents.

But for the average family, if they are not allowed to exercise control.
For fear of the "Social Brigade", what do these folk expect?

I beat the crap out of my daughter for lying to me...while I was driving her back from the movies she said she went and well she tried to get away and her my neck of her shirt and scratch her (that was a mistake) the next day she went to school and in the afternoon they called me in ....I went they subtetly told me if I did something to her...my daughter was crying in a chair...I told yes and for telling I will beat the crap out her when she gets home...and if you like call the police...they started apoligizing to me no please we concerns she didn't say anything...and really they can not hear me say things like beat my child...I told them what happened and my single status, her trying to test her teenage powers....No hon...I won...In will keep winning if I have to keep beating her...she is 21 in college and the only one among her friends not pregnant or with two or three kids....

My kids had a harnest and also the wrist band...I know it looked like walking dogs....but it was not to make sure they don't wonder off...but to make sure nobody could take off with them...Used mostly in Disney, recreational parks and big shopping areas...smaller places they would hold my hand.

My girls both wore walking reins. I knew exactly where they were, & hopefully they never bothered anyone.

My wife & I dont have children nor do we want any..When we mention this at parties etc people look at us in a weird way, almost as if they feel sorry for us ..
Then they make comments like " Who will look after you in your old age?" (is that a reason to have kids) or "Dont you want something of yourself to live on after you die?" answer to the last one is GOD NOOOOOOOOOO..

We have 20 nieces & nephews who all visit us (even the ones from Oz),email us every couple of days & think the sun shines out of our proverbial..
They know that they can pick up the phone & tell us they are coming over fort a couple of days without any notice & its cool.
Do we feel used? nope, we feel very much loved & fortunate that they want to visit & spend time with us..
Kids who would have them

It may well do that.
It all started with the banning of the belt at school.

Do half the parents give a shyte what their kids are up to at night?

I think i have found my spiritual home here on FTS , other like-minded semi adults who also dont want children..
Children are great though & not all of them are little b******s in the making so if you have kids & they are credit to you then give yourself a pat on the back cos it aint easy being a parent nowadays

Fair enough!  Kids are not for everyone

I sometimes wonder if it was for me as well.
But I have them and wouldn't be without them.

Thinks again   sometimes I wish they would go away when they are fighting or answering back, but on the whole things go OK.

I'm 44, single, never been married, have no kids.  In my instance, I have no kin at all (very distant relatives in all ways, but no 'family' per se).  This situation makes me out an oddball with others my own age, to say the least.

Any single females I've met, anywhere from my age to 10-odd years younger, has had all the kids they want already and wouldn't want or can't have any more, and have lots of other emotional or attitudinal baggage.  They're not too pleasant to be around.

Now, I'm so old, no female of decent childbearing age would want to be with me.  I look like an old geezer to them.  The ideal time for me to have begun the marriage/family undertaking would have been between 15 and 25 years ago, but the opportunities and circumstances of those times conspired against any of that coming to pass.

So it is, I'm gradually resigning myself to the likelihood of the status quo being all there is to look forward to, for the rest of my life.  I guess what I'm saying is, the marriage/family/kids dream is one I'm waking up from, not one I'm waking up to.

I wasn't raised around babies and such, and I don't know how I'd deal with them.

They are out there Mr P, you just have to get yourself out there to meet them.
They won't come looking for you.
I'm sure you would appeal to someone Mr P.
Though you may have to be a bit less fussy unless you have a big bank ballance
There is a lot of nice woman still out there.
